God opened another door with a cousin, her daughter…and even my mother!
My cousin, a devout Roman Catholic, dropped by with her daughter for a visit to again express her condolences to my mother and I for the loss of my brother.
As we sat down to catch-up, I casually asked: “How is your Christmas break going?” She immediately began to talk about how it hasn’t really been a “break” at all since she’s been tirelessly serving for the various events at her church. As she recited all the dates and details, her daughter made the comment: “I advocate for her with the church to make sure she isn’t overworked.” That’s good!
The conversation then turned to me, when my cousin asked: “So what do you do, Cory?”
“I lead an organization that equips Christians to share their faith with non-Christians and also help them understand why they go to church.”
“Interesting!” she said, and then asked: “I’ve noticed that there aren’t many younger people at church these days. Why do you think that is, Cory?”
So, I then turned to her daughter, saying: “You’re a younger person. Can I ask you 3 questions about that?”
“Sure!” she said.
For the next several minutes (with her mother and my mother listening!), I asked and she answered “The 3 Big Questions” of life and death matters, as taught in TCC seminars and modeled on The Cross Current TV programs.
Suffice to say that her mother was shocked to learn that her own daughter professed total unbelief in God as Creator and no hope for any sort of eternity with Him.
“That’s quite typical of young people these days, and likely why they don’t go to church. My passion is to intelligently share with young people and all people why I’m a Christian and go to church and why they need to be reconciled to God through Christ and go to church as well.”
The three of us then immediately shared our contact information and agreed to continue keeping in touch about such an important topic in light of eternity.
