Welcome to our December E-Tools Newsletter! This monthly TCC field report also includes helpful outreach resources to encourage and equip you to more faithfully share the Gospel with all the loved ones in your life as we witness for Christ in Canada together.
A YEAR OF MOVING FORWARD IN OUR MISSION
By God’s grace, 2012 has been a year of moving forward in our mission. More saints equipped for the work of evangelism, more believers faithfully witnessing with family and friends, more Gospel messages preached, more salvation stories shared – the Lord is doing more for His glory with TCC!
This last newsletter of the year will share several ministry highlights of 2012. But first, here are just two more recent Gospel glory stories that the Lord has brought our way just this past month…
TCC Radio Reaps a Heart with Harvest
It was a Friday night and we went out for our usual street witnessing encounters.
Shortly after prayer I bumped into a gentlemen named Heykel, who looked like a professional mountain hiker. I gave him a Gospel tract and almost kept walking, when he looked at it with interest and asked: “What is this?” I stopped and proceeded to ask him about his spiritual background and told him that we were part of a church called Harvest Bible Chapel. Then, over the course of about a half hour, I talked to him about the Gospel.
When we finished he was so grateful for the talk and asked me for my picture to put on his blog. It turns out that Heykel was homeless by choice to raise money for homeless children. Having taken my picture, he typed into his phone: ‘first person to give me a Bible and share about Christ’. I asked if he was interested in coming to church and he expressed interest and gave me his card.
The next day I sent him a text to let him know that if he needed a ride we would get him one. He kindly refused and said he would walk after giving him directions, but thanked me for the offer. At this point I still wasn’t sure if he would really even go.
Sunday morning came and we were pulling into the parking lot for the second Christmas service when I see a familiar white jacket and backpack. I was so excited to see Heykel there!
Calling him over, he then proceeded to tell how he had gone to the first service and how a lady named Connie had spent some time talking with him. When he had told her that he was homeless, she went out of her way to give him some gift cards for food and Tim Horton’s. Her hospitality overwhelmed him and he had broken down in tears.
It was then that I noticed a tear still on his cheek. He couldn’t stop talking about what she had done. I really don’t think he had ever experienced anything like this. I said I would text him this week for coffee and talk more to him and he expressed interested in this.
Perhaps he will come again to Harvest. But, most importantly, please pray that Heykel repents and trusts in Christ the Saviour…if he hasn’t already.
Chris Wood serves as a Field Rep with TCC Radio and leader of the Harvest Street Gospel Outreach Team. Chris is gifted in doing the work of an evangelist and has a passion for advancing and defending the Gospel to the glory of God. Chris and his wife, Filomena, attend Harvest Bible Chapel London with their two children, Isaac and Rachel.
TCC Seed Sowing Stirs a Saint
The following email was recently sent to Cory McKenna, president of The Cross Current and program host of TCC Radio:
My name’s Kerrianne. You approached myself and a few of my friends while we were out to dinner a few months ago in the summer and asked us about God. I’m not really sure why, but I still haven’t forgotten it.
You asked us what we would say to someone that got in a car accident in front of us and they only had a few minutes to live and said they were scared to die. We said we’d tell them everything was going to be okay, and that if they hadn’t they should open their hearts up to God, thank him for all he had done and repent about their sins, asking God to take them up to spend eternity with him.
I just wanted to let you know that even though you asked us that months ago, it’s still on my mind, and I’m rather impressed about it really.
It’s nice that you go around and ask people about God, thank you for speaking to my friends and I about it, it helped me clear a few things out in my head.
A lot of people have spoken to be about God and Christianity and I’m glad to say that I am Christian, but you are one of the few who actually got to me. Thank-you very much.
Have a wonderful day and may God bless you.
MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS OF 2012
Though countless testimonies of God’s faithfulness from 2012 could be shared, the following are just a few of our more noteworthy ministry highlights…
Church Champions Training | May
By God’s grace, TCC has trained hundreds of Christ-followers across Canada and back from almost every evangelical denomination. However, the Church Champions Training Retreat we hosted this past May was groundbreaking because it meant one giant step forward toward fulfilling our vision of equipping evangelism leaders to champion the cause of the Gospel in their own local churches.
This onsite and offsite outreach retreat was designed to help churches leverage the local missions experience of The Cross Current by equipping leaders to train and sustain their entire churches to normalize sharing the Gospel in all their personal and community relationships long-term.
Right: The 2012 Church Champions Training Team and Graduates
Through a combination of seven specialized sessions onsite and two outreach missions offsite, retreat participants from eight local churches were equipped with a field-tested foundation for more faithful Gospel proclamation and then released with a practical plan of church-wide implementation.
Here are just a couple comments from graduates of our very first retreat:
This training retreat has equipped me to be an equipping evangelist. I am now ready to train others to evangelize and evangelize on the streets myself. ~ Mike N.
In a nutshell, this retreat has really stoked me up to even be more passionate about the gospel. It’s been a real blessing to me and, in turn, I want it to be a blessing to our church. ~ Chris W.
More Church Champions Training is planned for 2013.

Our Most Extreme Team Missions Ever | July & August
TCC Extreme Team Missions (ETM’s) are local missions day trips into major urban centres for the specific purpose of preaching the Gospel through high volume tracting, one-to-one street witnessing, and open air preaching. Our ministry has been hosting these events since our founding, yet the fruitfulness of this year’s ETM’s far outweighed all the others. We attribute this “extreme success” to follow-up from our Church Champion Training Retreat.
Our Spring retreat graduates were commissioned with a challenge to assemble core “extreme” evangelism teams in their own local churches and bring them to both TCC Niagara Falls Extreme Team Missions in the summer – and with over 120 Christ-followers from 7 different local churches sowing seed on Clifton Hill, suffice to say that they responded to our challenge.
We thank God for all pastors, prayer warriors, and the evangelism leaders and their teams who enlisted and completed the most groundbreaking Gospel outreach missions in TCC history!

Witnessing @ Western | September
After 3 years of prayer, planning, and apologetic preparation, we are very pleased to report that in September TCC began leading a church Gospel Outreach Team in preaching Christ on the edge of the campus of Western University.
Since committing to witness at Western each and every week, we have had the privilege of publicly reasoning from the Scriptures with proponents of virtually every worldview – plus we have also connected with several Christ-followers on campus who have enlisted to be part of the outreach!
Lord willing, our Western Gospel Outreach Team will continue to “go” and grow for the glory of God throughout 2013.

Conferences/Training Events | October-November
In addition to preaching/teaching at many churches, this year TCC was invited to be a part of three major conferences/training events:
- The 2012 Western Canadian Bible & Science Conference
In early October, TCC had the privilege of partnering with Creation Ministries International at their 2012 Western Canadian Bible & Science Conference in Red Deer, Alberta. This specialized conference brought believers together to enrich their understanding of the Bible, help them engage the world around them, and grow stronger in their faith.
Here is how Richard Fangrad, CEO of CMI Canada, testifies to how TCC’s involvement impacted the conference: “It was a great joy to have Pastor Cory McKenna present two sessions on evangelism at our conference. Cory’s knowledge, passion, and useful examples on how to share the Gospel were much appreciated by our many attendees.”

- The Proof of God Conference
In late October, TCC also had the honor of serving the saints and loving the lost in partnership with Creation Today at their very first Proof of God Conference in Orlando, Florida. After several training sessions, we were commissioned to equip by example a witnessing team onto the streets of Orlando at a shopping plaza near the conference site.
Here are a few words from Eric Hovind, President of Creation Today, concerning TCC’s contribution to the conference: “For many of the people they coached, it was their first time putting their faith into practice and actually approaching someone with the truth of the Gospel. From the entire Creation Today Team, we thank you guys for bringing this conference what it really needed.”

The Cross Current was graciously invited to attend EICC’s very first leadership roundtable discussion on November 21st, titled: “The Church in Our Current Cultural Crisis”. EICC is committed to hosting this event tri-annually to provide several hours of teaching, discussion, reflection, and prayer.
The Cross Current looks forward to further strengthening our Gospel partnership with EICC through developing strategic discipleship opportunities for leaders and their churches in 2013 and beyond.

Biblical Apologetic Gospel Tracts | December
After years of faithful service in the local mission field, The Cross Current (in partnership with Sye Ten Bruggencate of Absolute Apologetics) has finally begun developing witnessing tools to equip Christ-followers to advance and defend the Gospel biblically in conversation with proponents of all false belief systems.
Using God and His Word as your starting point, now you will be prepared to gently and respectfully give an answer for the hope that’s in you by refuting the foundational knowledge and truth claims of all non-Christians.
These “Question & The Answer” tracts share a series of simple, probing questions that will help the lost see the contradictions in their worldview and logically lead them to the inescapable conclusion that they are actually ignoring God, which has dire consequences.
When completed in early 2013, there will be an entire series of these bookmark-style tracts that will share the truth of Christ while exposing the contradiction of all the major world religions.

ON THE HORIZON FOR 2013
Do you know that we continue to meet more and more Christians and non-Christians who are being regularly discipled and reached by The Cross Current Radio Show?
After enjoying more than five years of fruitful outreach radio ministry in our own local mission field, TCC Radio is finally positioned to expand into other areas.
The end of this year has brought many exciting points of contact with new TCC Radio Field Representatives, local churches, and radio stations all expressing interest to partner with TCC Radio to broadcast the Gospel over the airwaves and on the ground in new local mission fields across Canada.
In fact, this month The Cross Current Radio Show will be broadcasting into a brand new market in partnership with another local church and radio team. “Stay tuned” for more information in next month’s newsletter, as we expect to be expanding into several new markets throughout 2013.

YOUR PRAYER PULSE FOR JANUARY
Let’s continue partnering together to keep our prayer pulse for TCC and the Church in Canada strong!
There are three very specific petitions that we humbly request that you, your family, and your church present before the Lord on our behalf related to where we believe He is leading us in 2013:
> Church Champions Training Retreats
As equipping evangelists within local churches is the heartbeat of The Cross Current, please pray that the Lord will help us with all logistics related to this year’s Church Champions Training Retreat(s), and for the overall fruitfulness of each training time together.
> Rep & Radio expansion
As outreach radio expansion will be one of our major objectives for 2013, please pray that the Lord helps us equip and release more TCC radio representatives from solid partner churches, and that many radio executives and stations will begin broadcasting our program.
> Financial support
Canada needs Christ! Please pray that God will speak to the hearts of more and more supporters who will give generously and cheerfully to our work of equipping by example pastors, Christians, and their churches to share the Gospel in Canada.
On behalf of our families and ministry, we again thank God for you and your partnership in preaching the Gospel. It is our prayer that you, your family, and church enjoy a blessed New Year in His Master’s Service.
For His Glory Alone,
The Cross Current Team
