WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS

The 2012 Church Champions Training Team and Graduates

Since The Cross Current was founded in May of 2007, our mission has never changed: The Cross Current (TCC) is a local missions ministry and outreach broadcast bringing glory to God’s Name by unifying His Church in His Gospel and helping pastors equip all Christians under their care to be Christ’s witnesses everyday, everywhere, to everyone, as one body serving in accordance with the various gifts He has given each. This mission has been encapsulated in our three-phrase ministry motto: His Gospel. His Gifts. His Glory.

Having since personally trained hundreds of Christ-followers across Canada and back from almost every evangelical denomination, the Church Champions Training Retreat was groundbreaking because it gave us a glimpse of the fulfillment of our vision of equipping evangelism leaders to champion the cause of the Gospel in their local churches. And we praise God that our first training retreat hosted a full capacity of participants and also ran so smoothly!

This onsite and offsite outreach retreat was designed to help churches leverage the local missions experience of The Cross Current by equipping leaders to train and sustain their entire churches to normalize sharing the Gospel in all their personal and community relationships.

However, the main objective of the retreat was not to “wow” these leaders with mere mountaintop moments of Gospel outreach. Rather, now that our evangelistic iron sharpening relationship together has begun, our commitment as a servant ministry is to continue helping pastors equip their local missions leaders to champion the cause of the Gospel in their churches long-term.

Through a combination of seven specialized sessions onsite and two outreach missions offsite, retreat participants from eight local churches were equipped with a field-tested foundation for more faithful Gospel proclamation and then released with a practical plan of church-wide implementation. Further, The Cross Current leaders have committed to following up and following through with the graduates and their churches by journeying together through a common ministry calendar of training times and missions trips over the next twelve months.

Here are a few testimonies from the graduates of the Church Champions Training Retreat:

I feel now that I cannot turn back and I realize the need to go out and preach the gospel because many of the people I talked to had no hope for eternal life because they had no idea about what Jesus did for us on the cross. With God’s grace, I will do my best to show my brothers and sisters in Christ the importance of preaching the gospel and also be faithful to go out and do it, thanks to this training retreat that convicted my heart in the right way. ~ Immaculate Neels

This training retreat has equipped me to be an equipping evangelist. I am now ready to train others to evangelize and evangelize on the streets myself. ~ Mike Neels

Without this training, Ephesians 4:12 would not have made as much sense to me. I believe that the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to that passage, and am grateful that (pastor) Norm spent so much time focusing on the family first concept. Thank you. ~ Steve Hodge

In a nutshell, this retreat has really stoked me up to even be more passionate about the gospel. The area it challenged me in was in my personal evangelism. It’s an area I can grow in! Thanks to all the people involved in this putting this retreat together. It’s been a real blessing to me and, in turn, I want it to be a blessing to our church. ~ Chris Wagler
Congratulations to the seven participants who broke the sound barrier by preaching the Gospel open air for the very first time! We thank God for you and your faithfulness.

Special thanks as well to Harvest Bible Chapel London for partnering with us and for volunteering your Gospel Outreach Teams to train for this retreat.

TCC TURNS 5!

It was five years ago when The Cross Current and TCC Radio arrived on the scene.

Since that time we continue to stand in awe with all the Lord is doing to glorify Himself in and through our leadership team of trainers, preachers, board members, and media technicians.

We thank God for pouring out His great grace upon our ministry and for moving the hearts of all of our supporters, listeners, and prayer warriors to partner with us in our vital mission of preaching the Gospel and equipping the Church to do the same!

Happy Birthday, TCC! But…um…who is that long-haired dude to the right with his face in the radio mic?:)
