Helpful Hints – What’s The Word series.

Click here for an audio version of these helpful hints.

Hi and welcome to the for the series called “What’s The Word?” about the Bible.

It seems like everyone has an opinion about the Bible, it’s all true, it’s partially true, it’s just a bunch of stories, it’s a tool of the Church to control the population.. hey I’m sure you’ve heard a bunch of different opinions as well. With everyone talking about what they think of the Bible, do you ever wonder why so few people seem to want to check it out?

Well we’re checking it out in this series, and you can invite others to come along for the ride. We’ll start with what the Bible is, and if such a thing would be reasonable in a universe that actually had the kind of God that the Bible describes. Then in part two we’ll be talking about Science and the Bible. From the glory days of Science when men and women used science to explore God’s creation to find the things written of in the Bible right up to this moment when it’s become clear that most scientists use science to try to disprove that very same Creation. If we cut through all the politics and religion is the Bible scientifically sound or not?

In part three we come to the point that we have to start considering what the Bible says about us as people and what we can expect in this world and the next. Because if it stands up to historical, prophetic, and scientific tests then it only makes sense for us to at least pay attention to the rest of the message.

Through the original production of the series we realized that we needed to do a part 4 that answers the question “Who’s the Word?” The Bible says that a particular Person actually was, is and ever will be the “Word.” What does that mean in the grand scheme of things, and what does it mean to each of us personally?

This series is a remixed, rebroadcast from 2007 and that means that you’ll hear from people on the street in each episode but you’ll also find this series is jam packed with information.

Do you know someone who’s got lots of opinions about the Bible but has never been given the opportunity to test what its claims are? They are just the right kind of person to listen to this series. Maybe you or someone you know has been challenged about trusting the Bible. This series is a GREAT primer for anyone who wants to see IF the Bible is true or not. God’s not afraid of your questions so ask away!! Get a Bible ready, and tune in to because the only foolish question is the one that goes unasked.

Let someone know that they can hear Friday nights in London, Ont at 7pm on GraceFM 105.9, streaming online at TheStreamTV.com and TCCRadio.com and podcasted through iTunes or directly from TCCRadio.com

There’s also a resource page at www.tccradio.com/WhatsTheWord.htm that gives a bunch of resources for the investigative mind.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for sharing too!

Helpful Hints – Operation: Unknown Christian (Part 4)

Here are this week’s for making the most of our fourth and final episode in this series on public faith versus private faith called, Operation: Unknown Christian.

We’ll be wrapping up the series by tying up a few very important loose ends. First, we’ll be equipping believers to hold their heads up high as witnesses of and for Jesus Christ. Second, we’re going to expose the painful reality that not everyone who claims to be Christian actually is. On that point, church research guru George Barna says: “realize that being part of a group that calls itself a ‘church’ does not make you saved, holy, righteous, or godly any more than being in Yankee Stadium makes you a professional baseball player.” Tough…but true!

So this week we’ll be looking at the woman who met Jesus at the well. She had a terrible testimony in her community! However, she also had an encounter with Christ that she couldn’t keep to herself. So all she did to share it was tell those she loved that she found the Messiah. She wasn’t trying to be “holier than thou”, she was simply sharing what she had heard and seen for herself. What a freeing testimony of faithfulness!

This episode will encourage Christians to boldly come out of hiding to engage your culture before your culture engages you! Part of that process will be helping you learn how you can use for starting spiritual conversations with all those in your everyday world. Why? So you can let us do your “heavy lifting” as you get to the good stuff of simply sharing all that you have seen and heard about Jesus for yourself.

We’d also encourage you to invite other Christians, and of course non-Christians, to tune into the show as well! Just let them know that broadcasts in Ontario on Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on tccradio.com.

Please also email us your Gospel glory stories and personal encounters in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

We thank God for each one of you and look forward to encouraging you to boldly step out in faith to share your faith this week!

Helpful Hints – Operation: Unknown Christian (Part 3)

Well, as we make our way into part 3 of this new series of called Operation: Unknown Christian, this week’s helpful hint is just to step out in faith and go for it!

If you’ve ever taken our , you’ll remember a great relational ice-breaker we use with family and friends called “the crazy Christian question”. It goes like this…

The next time you’re hanging out with a loved one, simply say to them: “You must think it’s totally crazy that I’m a born again Christian.” After they respond, then ask: “What’s the number one reason that you think I would do something that crazy?” Keeping in mind that our number one reason for repenting and putting our trust in Christ is a reconciled relationship with God for all eternity, let them guess for a little while…and feel free to have a little bit of fun with it! After they either ask you why or after they have depleted all their answers, you can then pop the “million dollar question”: “When you walk off this planet from this life into the next, what do you think is on the other side?”

*Note: feel free to click here to visit the witnessing clips page of our website to experience the Gospel shared in real-life situations!

From there you can share the Gospel yourself or simply invite the person to tune into the show! Just let them know that broadcasts in Ontario on Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on tccradio.com.

Again, the goal of this series is really two-fold: to better understand why Christians are hiding out among the lost and to equip them to move out onto the battlefield to contribute to the great cause of Christ in Canada.

Oh yeah, please also remember to email us your Gospel glory stories and personal encounters in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

We thank God for each one of you and look forward to boldly making His Name great in our world this week!

Helpful Hints – Operation: Unknown Christian (Part 2)

Welcome to more audio for Part 2 of our brand new series of called,  Operation: Unknown Christian!

With this being the week of Easter, we encourage you to allow the Spirit of Christ to point your conversations toward the Cross of Christ and to prepare the people in your life to tune in to the show. As you step out in faith to talk about the most important event in the history of the world, we encourage you to ask your loved ones what they think Easter was all about? You can then ask them what they think that Easter has to do with God’s love? How about God’s justice?

If you really want to lift their eyes to eternity, a great question to dial people into the meaning of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ is to ask if they think God is just and whether He should hold people accountable for the evil things they have done? As most people will obviously say yes, from there you can either begin sharing the Gospel yourself (which we would highly recommend!) or you can simply invite them to listen to these same questions being asked by to people on the streets this Friday and every Friday!

Just let them know that broadcasts in Ontario on Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on www.tccradio.com.

Please, please, please also remember to email us your Gospel glory stories to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

Thank you again for your ongoing commitment to preaching the Gospel in partnership with us! On behalf of the entire team here at TCC, may God’s grace touch your heart to encounter the empty tomb and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior afresh this week!

Helpful Hints – Operation: Unknown Christian (Part 1)

Welcome to your audio for part 1 of our very first “top secret” series of , Operation: Unknown Christian! Here is the strategic course we’ve plotted for this mission together:

There is an army of secret operatives in our midst. These soldiers are so far “under ground” that most people – even their allies – are not even aware of their presence. The shocking truth is that one might even be hiding right under your nose! What are we going to do about it Canada?

The goal of this series is to reveal the practices of Christians hiding among the lost and to motivate them back into active service as soldiers under command to contribute to the cause of Christ in Canada.

We invite you to break the ice and build conversational bridges with those in your life by saying something like this:

“Hey, have I ever told you that I am affiliated with a reality radio show that surveys the public about hot topics in what they call a “spiritual speakers’ corner”? Yeah, they are called “” and they have invited me to survey a few people I know about the subject of private versus public faith. Do you mind if I get a few of your thoughts on the subject?”

If they say “yes” (and they probably will), we suggest that you tell them that you are a bit nervous and that you would like to read from the same interview script that our radio reps used throughout the production of this series.

Here is the script:

1. Are you a Christian?

2. (If so) How many people know that about you? (If not) How many Christians do you know? (If none, use question 3b).

3. Why do they know you are a Christian? Did you tell them?

3a. How did you know they are a Christian? Did they tell you?

3b. How do you think you would know if a person was a Christian? Would they tell you?

4. Why do you think a Christian may want to keep others from knowing they are one?

5. If there is a God, how do you think He should treat people who say they know Him, but don’t?

6. If there is a God, how do you think He’d treat people who claim to know Him but try to hide it?

7. Do you think that you are good enough for Him to accept you?

From there you can either share the Gospel or simply invite the person to tune into the show! Just let them know that broadcasts in Ontario on Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on www.tccradio.com.

Please also remember to email us your Gospel glory stories and personal encounters in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

Thank you again for your ongoing commitment to preaching the Gospel in partnership with us! May Christ’s Church in Canada make His Name great everyday, everywhere, with everyone this week!

Helpful Hints – Thou Shalt Not (Part 4)

Welcome to your audio for making the most of our fourth and final episode in our series talking about law. This week we are going to give you the inside scoop by sharing the writers notes and resources from the desktop of Script Writer, Producer, and Engineer: Kevin Lane. Here’s what Kevin has to say about this episode…

We spoke about the purpose of law in Part 1, and in Parts 2 and 3 we asked people on the streets what they thought the purpose of law was. In this episode, we’re going to get to the practical application of law.

Are the Courts being judgmental when they test someone’s actions against the laws of the land? I suppose a case could be made either way, depending on your point of view. But are Christians being judgmental when they help people test their lives against the Law of God?

The Bible says that Christians will judge the angels. Even in this world there is a famous “bar exam” just to be a lawyer. How much more one must be qualified to be a judge? People don’t say to a police officer, “who made you judge and jury?” Nor should they say that to a Christian who is using righteous judgment.

If you rush into a burning house, grab a man, and haul him out, were you calling him stupid for being in the house? Are you saying that you are a better man than he is? Or did you just recognize that he was as helpless as you’d be and decided to do something about it?

Of division in the Church, Jude says to have compassion on some, but others he says to save them as though you were pulling them out of the fire. That’s the same with witnessing: some are prepared for the Evangelist, and sometimes the Evangelist has to be the hero firefighter – either way our goal is to get the person out of danger.

So keep that all in mind as you go for it this week and invite your family and friends to tune into the show!

May we resolve together to serve our King with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength again this week!

Welcome again to your audio for making the most of Part 3 of our current series of talking about law.

This week we’ll be broadcasting a very candid conversation that TCC Rep Chris enjoyed with a girl by the name of Jane. When inviting your loved ones or otherwise to tune in, we would encourage you to leverage the transparency and vulnerability of this interview, by saying something like this:

“Hey, have you ever heard of a wild reality radio show that broadcasts right here in Canada called ? Are you familiar with the concept of “speakers corner”? Well, they actually do a “spiritual speakers corner” where they interview average, everyday people on the streets about the toughest topics  people are talking about in our culture! This month they are doing a special on law – do you agree with all the laws in Canada?”

From there you can have your own candid conversation about laws, government, politics, and whatever else the Lord may lead the conversation towards. After a few minutes, you can then transition your talk by saying something like this:

“Well, this week is broadcasting a really “in-your-face” conversation about law that promises to be one of their most fascinating interviews ever! Not only will they be talking with a total stranger about the laws of our land, but they’ll also be asking whether there might be supernatural laws from God as well! You have a lot of really interesting comments on this subject! Will you listen to the show with me so we can chat about it more afterwards?”

Let them know broadcasts in Ontario at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on www.tccradio.com.

Please also remember to email us your Gospel glory stories and personal encounters in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

May the Lord bless you and keep you as you be His witness in your own “Jerusalem” this week!

Welcome to your audio for making the most of our brand new series of on the Law.

Right off the top, we thought it would be helpful to equip you with the exact same script we used on the streets as a conversational/relational springboard towards sharing the Gospel with your family and friends.

Here’s something like you can say to say something like we said:-)

I don’t know if I have told you or not, but I am actually affiliated with this reality radio (and soon to be TV) program called The Cross Current that invites the public to voice their opinions in a spiritual speakers’ corner. They encourage me to survey some of the people I know (and we do!) and this series they are talking with people about the Law – can I get your opinions on the questions they will be asking other people on the air?

(If yes) We are forever being affected by law in Canada and so they are producing a series on law. Here are the questions:

1. In your opinion, why are laws important? (Would you agree that ideally laws are important because they help protect and provide for those who keep them and help punish those who break them?)

2. If you were Prime Minister of Canada, what sorts of laws would you add? Why? What sorts of laws would you take away? Why?

3. Have you ever studied the history of law? Many would believe that the original code of moral law came from the Jewish Torah in the form of ten rules. Do you know what they are called? (The Ten Commandments)

4. Are you familiar with the Ten Commandments? How many can you name?

5. Do you know Who wrote the Ten Commandments? (God) I mentioned that The Cross Current does a “spiritual” speakers’ corner too. Do you believe in God? Why or why not?

Bridge: If the Ten Commandments were God’s standard for who is “good enough” to go to heaven, how would you do?

From there we encourage you to step out in faith and share the Gospel and also invite them to tune in to hear the truth about law and order – in light of eternity!

Let them know that broadcasts in Ontario this Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on www.tccradio.com.

Oh, and once again, please send us your Gospel glory stories and personal encounters in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

We thank God for you and look forward to another great week preaching His Gospel together!

HELPFUL HINTS – Love Endures (Part 4)

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Click here for the audio version of this same message

Welcome to your audio for making the most of our fourth and final episode of the series, Love Endures. This week I want to share our script writers’ “prayer closet prep work” for this episode…

God demonstrated his love in the completion of the Gospel, but He also shows His love to everyday people by sending other everyday people to them with the precious word of His testimony. God does not send perfect people to intimidate others. He sends people who are just as much in need of His grace as the very people they are sent to! It is God’s love that motivates us to go and this love should make people envious.

The greatest pain of all that we can experience in this lifetime is when we realize the reality that the God of love, He Who actually is love, is unreachable and there is nothing we can do to be in relationship with Him. That pain is accompanied by the paralyzing fear that since we can’t get to God, we will have to endure the greatest pain of all eternity in hell separated from the source of all that’s good – God Himself. It is this moment that we share with people we love, in love, so they will call on the Lord our God and be saved – as He has promised to do for anyone who calls on Him.

Church, I have to tell you that this week’s script is so rich and rooted in the truth of Scripture that we would suggest you just go for gusto and invite people to tune in to hear about the greatest pain and the greatest good surrounding God’s love.

broadcasts this Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on www.tccradio.com.

Oh, and one more reminder! Please remember to send us your Gospel glory stories and personal adventures in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

We give God thanks for you and pray that His strength will be perfect in your weakness this week!

HELPFUL HINTS – Love Endures (Part 3)

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Click here for the audio version of this same message

Happy belated Valentine’s Day! This is Cory and here are your audio for making the most of Part 3 of our new series of TCC Radio called “Love Endures”.

This week we’re broadcasting and podcasting a fascinating conversation that TCC Rep Jeff enjoyed with a girl named Jaylene, who professes faith in Jesus Christ.

Not only does Jaylene offer some great answers and insights into her understanding of love, but the conversation gets really interesting when Jeff asks her several tough questions that we train all of our Reps to ask when we encounter another Christ-follower on the streets:

>”If I wasn’t a believer in Jesus Christ and had just 3 minutes to live…what would you say to me?”

>”Do you talk about sin with the people you share Christ with? If so, how?”

>”What about repentance? Is that important to mention when sharing the Gospel?”

How would Jaylene answer? How would you answer those questions yourself? Well, that’s why this will be a great episode to invite other believers to check out! But because the Word of God is so powerful and God Himself is patient not wanting anyone to perish, we also invite you to invite your prayer list to tune in again this week too! And here’s how you might do that this week…

Simply tell them that you are affiliated with a wild reality radio (and soon to be TV) broadcast that invites average, everyday people to take part in a spiritual speakers’ corner-type conversation. They also talk about hot topics in the culture and also ask the big question of life: where will you spend eternity?

From there you can ask them to tune in to a special show talking about love this Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on www.thestreamTV.com out of Orangeville and it also podcasts on tccradio.com.

Please also send us your Gospel glory stories and personal adventures in everyday evangelism to radio@thecrosscurrent.com and – with your consent – we’d love to publish them on our blog at www.thecrosscurrent.com/blog!

We again thank God for you and pray that He gives you His strength and wisdom to be His witness this week!
