E-Tools Newsletter | February 2010

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Welcome to our E-Tools Newsletter for February 2010! This monthly TCC field report also includes strategic outreach resources to encourage, equip, and empower you to more effectively share the Gospel with all the loved ones in your life as we faithfully serve Christ in Canada together.-

We will go, Lord.

A similar version of this story is scheduled to appear in the upcoming Easter edition of the Christian Life in London newspaper.

Jesus said, “go”. Go into all the and preach the Gospel. Go and make disciples. To be a follower of Christ is to “go”. The Cross Current is taking this command seriously.

The Cross Current (TCC) is a London-based local missions ministry and outreach broadcast that exists to help pastors equip Christians to “go”. To “go” and personally share Christ with loved ones, and to “go” as a team to share Christ together with the community. We help local churches develop and equip Gospel Outreach “GO” Teams of Christ-followers to preach the Gospel while serving the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and material needs of the lost in the community.

The Go Team from Harvest Bible Chapel London huddles together for a team picture before reaching out to the disadvantaged in downtown London.

After enjoying several other fruitful ministry missions together earlier this season, on February 13th TCC and the GO Team of Harvest Bible Chapel London partnered together to reach out to the disadvantaged in our community with the Good News, a cup of hot chocolate, and a warm winter coat.

Of all the praiseworthy field reports from that day, we especially thank God that He moved our team to leave the ninety-nine to find the one named “Tim”. Tim heard the Gospel and encountered Christ through the GO Team on Saturday, and then joined us for church the next morning. What joy the Lord brings when we obey Him!

Above: TCC Radio and TV Host, Cory McKenna, shares the Gospel with our new friend Tim on Saturday. Right: TCC Field Rep Tom Woodburn welcomes Tim at church on Sunday!

-
It has also been our experience that Gospel outreach brings a sort of “double blessing”. Not only are non-believers blessed by encountering the power of the Gospel first-hand, but we as the brethren also enjoy the blessings of authentic biblical fellowship when we die to self and love the lost as Jesus did…together!

GO Team Testimonies

GO Team missions leader, Chris Wood, says: “There is something amazing and eternal about stepping into the community and serving, praying, and preaching the Gospel. It makes me think: this is the Church the way it should be.”

“Since serving with the GO Team, my focus has totally changed! It is now more of Him and less of me”, says Donna Feica, a GO Team member serving in the area of prayer and follow-up ministry. “The teaching and example the GO Team provides in witnessing continues to encourage me and give me the confidence to actually look for opportunities to share God’s love!”

Norm Millar, senior pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel of London, candidly shares, “Evangelism tends to leak out of the ministry life of any church and so we are very thankful to God for the Harvest GO Team and the TCC leaders who help us keep Biblical evangelism front and centre in all we do.”

It has been said that the mark of a great church is not in its seating capacity, but its sending capacity. May the Lord continue to build great churches that will “go” for His glory in Canada.

See “The Faces for Radio” on TV!

In our January – February 2009 Newsletter, it was announced that The Cross Current had received an exciting offer from The Stream TV network to launch an Internet-based reality TV show to preach the Gospel and equip the Church in Canada and around the world.

The program was tentatively scheduled to air in the spring of 2009. However, this date had to be postponed after our video editing contact relocated.

An urgent prayer answered!

Late last year, our program director at The Stream TV told us that The Cross Current TV program could be airing on their network today if the episodes were already edited. That’s why we believe that the Lord orchestrated a way for us to purchase a computer from a local church for a very reasonable price to begin editing and producing these shows within our existing team.

Left: TCC Field Rep, Chris Wood, enjoys an “encounter in everyday evangelism” during the production of The Cross Current reality TV program.

So, though we totally understood the seemingly bad timing of sending out an appeal for support so close to the holiday season, late December we stepped out in faith and invited believers to pray about sowing into this urgent ministry need. Our hope was to receive at least half the money required from supporters. This would enable us to move forward while continuing to exercise responsible stewardship as a ministry.

Well, we were humbled and overwhelmed when several supporters stepped up and gave so generously that we were able to purchase the computer outright, with no money owing. Praise the Lord! Now that we have the computer, The Cross Current TV program is already in production and we hope to have several episodes ready to broadcast by late this spring.

Our for March

Let’s continue partnering together to keep our for TCC and the Church in Canada strong! This month we have three main prayer points that we humbly ask you, your family, and your church to remember for us in March.

TCC Radio Expansion

Please pray that The Cross Current Radio Show will enjoy exposure into more cities in Canada to facilitate greater Gospel preaching coverage and increased ministry support.

TCC TV Production

Please pray that The Cross Current TV production will run smoothly and that the Gospel-preaching program will begin streaming online as soon as possible.

Continue keeping a pulse on our mutual prayer needs

E-Tools Newsletter | January 2010

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Welcome to our first E-Tools Newsletter of 2010! This monthly TCC field report also includes strategic outreach resources to encourage, equip, and empower you to more effectively share the Gospel with all the loved ones in your life as we faithfully serve Christ in Canada together.

Keeping the Cross current…through current events!

-

I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.

(1 Corinthians 9:22-23)

TCC exists to equip the Church to keep the Cross current in our culture, both for the sake of the Gospel and for the salvation of the lost.

Keeping connected with current events in the news can facilitate fantastic ways to become all things to all people, so that by all means we might save some.

World Class Witnesses

First, through keeping connected with current events, God graciously allows us to become “world class witnesses” for Him who love the lost beyond just our own Jerusalem into the uttermost part of the earth. This results in a commitment to pray for the salvation of souls all around the world and for the missionaries who have been called to reach them.

It’s also been our experience that the eternal impact of becoming world class witnesses often extends beyond our personal life and witness into our family life and witness as well! For example, to keep the Cross current with current events, one of the evangelists with TCC now leads his family to set aside the first workday of every week as “Missions Monday”. This involves his children doing basic research on a country and their family taking the week to pray together for God to grant repentance to those who live there.

Conversational Common Ground

Second, through keeping connected with current events, God graciously gives us the conversational common ground we need to relate to as many people as possible in our own local mission field about the bigger matters of life, death, and eternity. The recent earthquake tragedy in Haiti continues to facilitate many such opportunities for Gospel outeach…

By now you have likely been exposed to many of the horrific images of the devastation in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, after the city was hit with a 7.0 earthquake. As local missionaries, it’s times like these that we can feel as helpless as the rest of the world in the wake of disaster.

However, in addition to continuing to pray diligently for the physical needs of all those involved in this tragedy, as per Jesus’ words in Luke 13:1-5, we have also been using this current event as conversational common ground to share the message of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ…while there is still time.

In effort to more effectively equip the Church to “normalize” evangelism with loved ones and strangers, TCC is now developing a special section of our Studio/Street Blog called “Current Events”. Here we will post field reports and audio files of our radio reps using current events in the culture as conversational common ground to lead the lost to the Cross.

Click here to access our very first “Current Events” posting; a Gospel encounter on the street surrounding the subject of Haiti

We sincerely pray that these “Current Events” encounters in evangelism will serve to help you continue growing strong in your own evangelistic giftings!

TCC Radio LIVE: When sharing the Good News goes bad

TCC Radio host Cory McKenna is thanking God for “nine lives” – but not in the way you may think. Not only has He now allowed us to broadcast nine live radio shows, but He also continues to show Himself strong on our behalf…even when doing the right thing seems to go wrong.

Right: Norm Millar of Harvest Bible Chapel of London was our most recent special guest on TCC Radio LIVE

On this month’s episode of TCC Radio live, we extended the program to one full hour in hopes of helping Pastor Norm Millar and Harvest Bible Chapel of London spread the life-giving message that Christians need never be silent about the Gospel. In addition to dialoguing in the studio about various aspects of biblical life and witness, we also enjoyed another real-time Gospel conversation from the studio to the street via cell phone in a segment that we call “wireless witnessing”.

What would you do if things got tripped up by circumstances out of your control when sharing your faith?

Hear what Norm and Cory did when sharing the Good News went bad on live radio!

Our for February

Let’s continue partnering together to keep our for TCC and the Church in Canada strong! This month we have a praise report and TWO main prayer points that we humbly ask you, your family, and your church to remember for us in February.

Praise Report from “Urgent Ministry Need”!

In late December, Cory and The Cross Current Team sent out an important message inviting all those on our distribution list to pray about sowing into an urgent ministry need. We praise God for the faithful response of so many of our partners in the Gospel! Thanks to you, we are now in production for The Cross Current TV show after having received sufficient donations for acquiring the computer we need for video editing!

Prayer Points

Expansion & Exposure

  • Expanding our ministry of equipping local churches in cities across Canada to more effectively share the Gospel message with loved ones and strangers, and
  • Exposing The Cross Current Radio Show into more markets to facilitate greater Gospel preaching coverage and support for the local churches we partner with

Continue keeping a pulse on our mutual prayer needs

E-Tools Newsletter | December 2009

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Welcome to our new E-Tools Newsletter! This monthly TCC field report also includes strategic outreach resources to encourage, equip, and empower you to more effectively share the Gospel with all the loved ones in your life as we faithfully serve Christ in Canada together.

“Open Airwaves” Preaching for Christmas!

For the glory of God, this December The Cross Current stepped out in faith to take live outreach radio to a whole new level.

We titled this very special series of TCC Radio Live, “Giving the Greatest Gift”. Just as God freely gave the greatest gift of His only Son, our goal was to freely give His Gospel to all those in our world this Christmas and to equip our listeners to do the same.

In the studio, both Dale Elliott and Richard Spruyt of Grace FM 105.9 in London hosted

TCC founding president, Cory McKenna in discussing the topics of personal witnessing, community outreach, local missions, and overseas missions.

Right: Cory McKenna talks to a non-Christian live on the air during another “wireless witnessing” segment of TCC Radio this December.

On the street, TCC team leader Chris Wood coordinated our Gospel ground troops and also set up the “wireless witnessing” encounters between Cory and two non-Christians from the community via cell phone.

Left: Harvest Bible Chapel Gospel Outreach “GO” Team member, Sharon Enwright, gives a passerby a warm welcome with a hot cup of Christmas cider.

However, the greatest groundbreaker of the entire series had to be the “open airwaves” preaching!

We praise God for the faithfulness of our Director of Ministry Relations, Jeff Mardling, for preaching the Gospel message open air live on air.

Right: Jeff Mardling breaks the sound barrier by preaching open air live for the first time in TCC Radio history!

After leading a group of carolers from the GO Team of Harvest Bible Chapel of London in the singing of “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”, Jeff used the lyric about “God and sinners reconciled” as a beautiful springboard to powerfully proclaim the true meaning of Christmas to those passing by on that frigid Friday night. TCC has open air preached in several Canadian cities, however, this is the very first time that we have attempted breaking the sound barrier on live radio before. Praise God!

We know that faith comes through hearing the word of Christ (Romans 10:17). As such, we are so thankful for the many

testimonies we have received from Christ-followers across our city of how the Lord has brought faith to the hearts of many loved ones who were invited to tune in to the show and just “happened” to hear Jeff’s preaching. Chris has also been following up with a student of the Baha’i faith who heard the Gospel for the first time throughout the production of this live series. Click here for more on Chris’ Gospel glory story and please continue praying that the Lord brings the increase now that the seed of His word has been sown in their hearts.

TCC Radio: Encountering Islam

Do you know that Islam is the second largest religion in the world after Christianity? Do you also know that there are second and even third generation Muslims living in virtually every major city across Canada and that number is consistently rising every single year? The Lord desires that none should perish and that Christians would be a blessing to Muslims by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Now, we all know that the mere mention of Islam can spark intense and often hateful controversy. But let the record show that we are not going to go there in this series of TCC Radio. When the final credits roll, we are hoping and praying that it will serve as a great Gospel outreach resource that you can confidently lend to your Muslim an non-Muslim loved ones.

Our for January

In fact, to equip you for more effective life and witness, please click here to access your new TCC Radio Listener’s Resources including “behind the scenes” Producer’s Notes and special Listener’s Scripts. We trust that these brand new online outreach tools will help you make the most of each episode of the program when sharing Christ with your family and friends.

Let’s continue partnering together to keep our for TCC and the Church in Canada strong! There is only ONE main prayer point that we humbly ask you, your family, and your church to remember for us in January.

Early in the month, our core leadership team will be coming together for our third annual prayer & planning meeting. We have found this time together to be invaluable for helping our team seek the Lord’s face for the year and to grow in stewarding our time and talents for Him.

Please pray that the He will give us the vision and direction we need to continue moving forward in His service to make His Name even greater in Canada this year!

We again thank God for you and for your ongoing partnership in preaching His Gospel in Canada.

Continue keeping a pulse on our mutual prayer needs

E-Tools Newsletter | November 2009

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Welcome to our brand new E-Tools Newsletter! This monthly TCC field report also includes strategic outreach resources to encourage, equip, and empower you to more effectively share the Gospel with all the loved ones in your life as we faithfully serve Christ in Canada together.

“GO Team” Go!

The Harvest Bible Chapel of London “GO Team”

Left to right: Chris Wood, John Gonciarz, Donna Feica, Jordan Baert (Berean Baptist Church), Randy Lutchman, Rebecca Coyne, Bill Dawson, Matt Ainsworth, David Herbert (Southdale Bible Chapel), Tom Woodburn, Tom Briggs. Taking picture: Cory McKenna.

What do you call a group of Christ-followers commissioned by their local church and equipped by The Cross Current to preach the Gospel, while working together to serve the spiritual, emotional, and material needs of the lost in their community? At TCC we call it a Gospel Outreach (GO) Team…and we can help you and your church launch one!

On Saturday November 21st, two months of and preparation converged on the campus of the University of Western Ontario (UWO) where TCC and several members of the Harvest Bible Chapel of London (HBCL) GO Team partnered together for an “all-original” outreach.

Right: The HBCL GO Team works together to turn a busy public street corner into “seed sowing central”!

This year marks a double anniversary in the life of Charles Darwin: his 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of his controversial classic, Origin of Species. Not only did we enjoy origins/Gospel conversations with over 85 students, parents, and professors surrounding this subject, but we also managed to round up over 40 emails and distribute close to 100 copies of the special “Gospelized” version of Darwin’s book, as republished by Living Waters Publications.

Left: HBCL GO Team member, Rebecca Coyne, uses an origins/worldview survey as a springboard to build a relationship and share the Gospel.

Perhaps the most memorable encounter of the day involved a student named Dan who had an overtly critical reaction to the origins resources we were giving out. Cory was the recipient of Dan’s four-letter words of welcome! After letting our new friend vent for a few minutes, Cory responded by saying: “You must have pretty strong beliefs to react that passionately about a supposed science book! Maybe we’re more alike than you realize!” Cory then began to dialogue with Dan about the fact that we all have faith about what happened in history because none of us were actually there to observe it for ourselves. Further, it’s this personal faith commitment about the past that determines how we interpret the same evidence that we all share in the present. After somewhat diffusing Dan’s desire for fighting about the issue, the Lord then opened up the door to share a very candid conversation about the Creator, His Word, His Son, and His Gospel. Though Dan didn’t commit to showing up at church the next morning, he did give Cory his email and request recontact. Praise God!

TCC exists to equip all the saints in your church for the work of evangelism. We offer both personal and community witnessing workshops to help you more effectively share the Gospel in all your personal relationships and beyond.

In addition to taking the HBCL GO Team through our workshop training, here are a couple other online resources we used in preparation for our origins outreach together that we encourage you to take advantage of as well:

Origins/worldview series called “What On Earth Is Going On?” (TCC Radio)

Article on witnessing to evolutionists called “Hitting the Nail on the Head” (CMI)

TCC Radio: Giving the Greatest Gift…LIVE!

TCC Radio is going live for Christmas! We trust that God will help us help you keep the Cross current and keep the Christ in Christmas in a very unique and special way this holiday season.

Starting on Friday December 4th, our regular radio broadcast and podcast will feature inspirational in-studio Christmas commentary and real-time reports from our field reps on the streets. Invite your family and friends to tune in to hear Gospel glory stories from across the country, open air preaching, and live “wireless witnessing” encounters via cell phone!

Listen to the “TCC Radio LIVE! @ Christmas” commercial

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Just as God freely gave, we want to do the same by freely giving God’s greatest gift of all to the loved ones in our lives this Christmas! To get equipped for more effective personal evangelism at this most wonderful witnessing time of year, we have produced a free audio tract to share with all of our family and friends.

This very special Christmas episode of TCC Radio has been carefully remixed and reinforced with a Christ-centred introduction to provide non-Christians with an accurate biblical context for the Christmas story. So, instead of just giving your unsaved loved ones another pair of socks this season, why not stuff their stockings and their hearts with a free gift of the greatest free gift of all eternity?

Hear, download, and distribute your free TCC Christmas audio tract

Our

Let’s continue partnering together to keep our for TCC and the Church in Canada strong! Here are three strategic prayer points for you, your family, and your church to remember in December:

  • For the Lord to draw more and more listeners and supporters to TCC Radio, and for Him to bring the volunteer production team we need to launch and sustain our upcoming reality television program on The Stream TV.
  • For the Lord to help us plan and produce the “TCC Radio LIVE! @ Christmas” series for His glory.
  • For the Lord to speak to the hearts of more believers about giving generously to TCC’s work of preaching the Gospel in Canada through witnessing, training, and expanded radio/video production.

Continue keeping a pulse on our mutual prayer needs

We thank God for you and for your ongoing partnership in preaching His Gospel in Canada.

Twittering For TCC In KDE4

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

By Writer/Producer Kevin Lane

If you’re like a lot of people you’ve been following people on Twitter. We’ve just started tweeting about our daily work in the ministry, and you can follow us at Twitter.com/TheCrossCurrent where you’ll read short messages about what our leaders are doing at any given moment. There’s no schedule involved but whatever we’re up to we’re bound to make a quick comment on it. We’re really hoping this can grow into an almost real-time view of our lives in ministry.

One great thing about being a Linux Geek is I have a Plasma Applet running on my desktop that allows me to tweet at a moment’s notice. Check out my current desktop in this pic below.

Helpful Hints – What’s The Word series.

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Click here for an audio version of these helpful hints.

Hi and welcome to the for the TCC Radio series called “What’s The Word?” about the Bible.

It seems like everyone has an opinion about the Bible, it’s all true, it’s partially true, it’s just a bunch of stories, it’s a tool of the Church to control the population.. hey I’m sure you’ve heard a bunch of different opinions as well. With everyone talking about what they think of the Bible, do you ever wonder why so few people seem to want to check it out?

Well we’re checking it out in this series, and you can invite others to come along for the ride. We’ll start with what the Bible is, and if such a thing would be reasonable in a universe that actually had the kind of God that the Bible describes. Then in part two we’ll be talking about Science and the Bible. From the glory days of Science when men and women used science to explore God’s creation to find the things written of in the Bible right up to this moment when it’s become clear that most scientists use science to try to disprove that very same Creation. If we cut through all the politics and religion is the Bible scientifically sound or not?

In part three we come to the point that we have to start considering what the Bible says about us as people and what we can expect in this world and the next. Because if it stands up to historical, prophetic, and scientific tests then it only makes sense for us to at least pay attention to the rest of the message.

Through the original production of the series we realized that we needed to do a part 4 that answers the question “Who’s the Word?” The Bible says that a particular Person actually was, is and ever will be the “Word.” What does that mean in the grand scheme of things, and what does it mean to each of us personally?

This series is a remixed, rebroadcast from 2007 and that means that you’ll hear from people on the street in each episode but you’ll also find this series is jam packed with information.

Do you know someone who’s got lots of opinions about the Bible but has never been given the opportunity to test what its claims are? They are just the right kind of person to listen to this series. Maybe you or someone you know has been challenged about trusting the Bible. This series is a GREAT primer for anyone who wants to see IF the Bible is true or not. God’s not afraid of your questions so ask away!! Get a Bible ready, and tune in to TCC Radio because the only foolish question is the one that goes unasked.

Let someone know that they can hear TCC Radio Friday nights in London, Ont at 7pm on GraceFM 105.9, streaming online at TheStreamTV.com and TCCRadio.com and podcasted through iTunes or directly from TCCRadio.com

There’s also a resource page at www.tccradio.com/WhatsTheWord.htm that gives a bunch of resources for the investigative mind.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for sharing too!

Helpful Hints – Operation: Unknown Christian (Part 4)

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Click here for the audio version of the same message

Here are this week’s for making the most of our fourth and final episode in this series on public faith versus private faith called, Operation: Unknown Christian.

We’ll be wrapping up the series by tying up a few very important loose ends. First, we’ll be equipping believers to hold their heads up high as witnesses of and for Jesus Christ. Second, we’re going to expose the painful reality that not everyone who claims to be Christian actually is. On that point, church research guru George Barna says: “realize that being part of a group that calls itself a ‘church’ does not make you saved, holy, righteous, or godly any more than being in Yankee Stadium makes you a professional baseball player.” Tough…but true!

So this week we’ll be looking at the woman who met Jesus at the well. She had a terrible testimony in her community! However, she also had an encounter with Christ that she couldn’t keep to herself. So all she did to share it was tell those she loved that she found the Messiah. She wasn’t trying to be “holier than thou”, she was simply sharing what she had heard and seen for herself. What a freeing testimony of faithfulness!

This episode will encourage Christians to boldly come out of hiding to engage your culture before your culture engages you! Part of that process will be helping you learn how you can use TCC Radio for starting spiritual conversations with all those in your everyday world. Why? So you can let us do your “heavy lifting” as you get to the good stuff of simply sharing all that you have seen and heard about Jesus for yourself.

We’d also encourage you to invite other Christians, and of course non-Christians, to tune into the show as well! Just let them know that TCC Radio broadcasts in Ontario on Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on tccradio.com.

Please also email us your Gospel glory stories and personal encounters in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

We thank God for each one of you and look forward to encouraging you to boldly step out in faith to share your faith this week!

Helpful Hints – Operation: Unknown Christian (Part 3)

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Click here for the audio version of the same message

Well, as we make our way into part 3 of this new series of TCC Radio called Operation: Unknown Christian, this week’s helpful hint is just to step out in faith and go for it!

If you’ve ever taken our , you’ll remember a great relational ice-breaker we use with family and friends called “the crazy Christian question”. It goes like this…

The next time you’re hanging out with a loved one, simply say to them: “You must think it’s totally crazy that I’m a born again Christian.” After they respond, then ask: “What’s the number one reason that you think I would do something that crazy?” Keeping in mind that our number one reason for repenting and putting our trust in Christ is a reconciled relationship with God for all eternity, let them guess for a little while…and feel free to have a little bit of fun with it! After they either ask you why or after they have depleted all their answers, you can then pop the “million dollar question”: “When you walk off this planet from this life into the next, what do you think is on the other side?”

*Note: feel free to click here to visit the witnessing clips page of our website to experience the Gospel shared in real-life situations!

From there you can share the Gospel yourself or simply invite the person to tune into the show! Just let them know that TCC Radio broadcasts in Ontario on Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on tccradio.com.

Again, the goal of this series is really two-fold: to better understand why Christians are hiding out among the lost and to equip them to move out onto the battlefield to contribute to the great cause of Christ in Canada.

Oh yeah, please also remember to email us your Gospel glory stories and personal encounters in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

We thank God for each one of you and look forward to boldly making His Name great in our world this week!

Helpful Hints – Operation: Unknown Christian (Part 2)

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Click here for the audio version of the same message

Welcome to more audio for Part 2 of our brand new series of TCC Radio called,  Operation: Unknown Christian!

With this being the week of Easter, we encourage you to allow the Spirit of Christ to point your conversations toward the Cross of Christ and to prepare the people in your life to tune in to the show. As you step out in faith to talk about the most important event in the history of the world, we encourage you to ask your loved ones what they think Easter was all about? You can then ask them what they think that Easter has to do with God’s love? How about God’s justice?

If you really want to lift their eyes to eternity, a great question to dial people into the meaning of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ is to ask if they think God is just and whether He should hold people accountable for the evil things they have done? As most people will obviously say yes, from there you can either begin sharing the Gospel yourself (which we would highly recommend!) or you can simply invite them to listen to these same questions being asked by TCC Radio to people on the streets this Friday and every Friday!

Just let them know that TCC Radio broadcasts in Ontario on Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on www.tccradio.com.

Please, please, please also remember to email us your Gospel glory stories to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

Thank you again for your ongoing commitment to preaching the Gospel in partnership with us! On behalf of the entire team here at TCC, may God’s grace touch your heart to encounter the empty tomb and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior afresh this week!

Helpful Hints – Operation: Unknown Christian (Part 1)

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Click here for the audio version of the same message

Welcome to your audio for part 1 of our very first “top secret” series of TCC Radio, Operation: Unknown Christian! Here is the strategic course we’ve plotted for this mission together:

There is an army of secret operatives in our midst. These soldiers are so far “under ground” that most people – even their allies – are not even aware of their presence. The shocking truth is that one might even be hiding right under your nose! What are we going to do about it Canada?

The goal of this series is to reveal the practices of Christians hiding among the lost and to motivate them back into active service as soldiers under command to contribute to the cause of Christ in Canada.

We invite you to break the ice and build conversational bridges with those in your life by saying something like this:

“Hey, have I ever told you that I am affiliated with a reality radio show that surveys the public about hot topics in what they call a “spiritual speakers’ corner”? Yeah, they are called “TCC Radio” and they have invited me to survey a few people I know about the subject of private versus public faith. Do you mind if I get a few of your thoughts on the subject?”

If they say “yes” (and they probably will), we suggest that you tell them that you are a bit nervous and that you would like to read from the same interview script that our radio reps used throughout the production of this series.

Here is the script:

1. Are you a Christian?

2. (If so) How many people know that about you? (If not) How many Christians do you know? (If none, use question 3b).

3. Why do they know you are a Christian? Did you tell them?

3a. How did you know they are a Christian? Did they tell you?

3b. How do you think you would know if a person was a Christian? Would they tell you?

4. Why do you think a Christian may want to keep others from knowing they are one?

5. If there is a God, how do you think He should treat people who say they know Him, but don’t?
