XTM Canada Day | Field Report!

May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth! (Psalm 72:8, ESV)

Canada needs Christ. If you’ve been hanging with The Cross Current (TCC) for any time at all, you’ll know that this three-word phrase has become the all-consuming cry of our hearts as we share the Gospel on the streets of Canada each week. (Click here to find out more about supporting us further in this great cause of Christ!)

This past Wednesday July 1st, TCC stepped out into our community together for a glorious time of Dominion Day ! (Do you know that “” was originally called “Dominion Day” in honour of God in the Scripture verse above?) We again give God all the glory for graciously providing us with all the favour we needed to preach His precious Word to a whole host of Muslims, Bahai’s, Buddhists, Atheists…and many more!

Due to the location of this local missions trip, this was also the first time that we extended an open invitation to all Christ-followers across our city to join us on an Xstream Team Mission (XTM), regardless of whether they had graduated from one of our Witnessing Workshops.

Above: a young man listens carefully to TCC Rep Chris Wood as he takes the time to share the Gospel.

Here was the itinerary for our of :

12:00pm | Met at the home of Chris Wood for food & fellowship

12:30pm – 1:30pm | Prayer

1:30pm – 5:00pm | in South London at White Oaks Park (1-2-1-/Prayer/Ministry)

5:00pm – 6:30pm | Break for supper and fellowship

6:30pm – 9:00pm | Downtown London at Harris Park  (1-2-1-/Prayer/Ministry)

White Oaks is known to be a very part of London. So, in addition to reading over the section on sharing Christ with Muslims in our TCC “Witnessing Quick Reference” booklets (soon to be available for purchase on our online store!:), we also reviewed together a couple chapters on reaching out to Muslims from The School of Biblical Evangelism book from Way of the Master (click here for another awesome teaching online about reaching out to Muslims, courtesy of Ray Comfort). Aren’t you thankful to God for raising up more and more teaching evangelists to help us preach the Gospel in contemporary Canadian culture?

In the picture to the left, Kem shares the message of reconciliation with a very thankful young man who waits patiently for the fireworks show.

I personally thank God for many conversations that he allowed me to have as well. Though I could share all kinds of “Gospel glory stories” about the day, perhaps the most impacting encounter I had was with two “Christian” teenagers and their three friends. Since one young lady candidly identified herself as a born again Christian, I asked her to explain to me her understanding of what must I do to be saved? “Keep the commandments. But everyone goes to heaven anyway.” Wow! After entering into a discussion about both the love and justice of God, I also asked her two simple questions:

1. If everyone is already saved, then why would God send His Son to die for no reason?

2. If God DID send His Son to die for no apparent reason, why in the world would you worship Him?

She had obviously never gotten that consistent with her “Christian” faith before. Anyhow, I praise God that the entire group gladly gave me their email addresses and sincerely thanked me for sharing the truth with them.

Our next XTM event is scheduled for Saturday, August 15th in Barrie, Ontario. This will be our very first local missions trip to Barrie, so please pray in advance for God’s favour on our time there and for Him to help us develop strong partner church relationships for this event.
