reflection

As I pondered on the events of this afternoon, I thought this pic and how appropriate it is of TCC Rep Chris Wood witnessing to a young lady on the the streets of London.  All I had was a cell phone camera and I noticed how clear the reflection of the two of them was in a local store front window.  A little play on words, but I really do reflect on the conversations God has graciously allowed me to have with everyday strangers who are so appreciative to have heard the Gospel.  I am sure the rest to the team feel the same way.  I reflect at how God is mercifully and graciously changing me and using me in His kingdom building efforts.  I reflect at how kind He is to protect us on the streets and allow us to carry His beautiful plan of salvation to such a lost world.  I reflect at how He as surrounded me around a group of individuals who mentor me and love me and encourage me.  And… it causes me to reflect always on the sacrifice of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and how awesomely kind my God truly is.  What a great day of sharing the greatest truth ever proclaimed.

Have a great day in fellowship and worship tomorrow,

Jeff

p.s. finished listening to TCCradio..and if I never hear the words “pooky dooky” from Cory again it will be too soon..:)

Soul-winning in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan!

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Hello everyone!

I’m typing this posting from my hotel room at the Saskatoon Inn where I am the keynote speaker at the teen track of a home educators conference. We’ve had some great times teaching how to share the Good News!

Not only have I enjoyed two great days of discipleship training, but the Lord has also graciously allowed me to share the Gospel with several hotel staff, including Ricky, Melissa, and Gineena. Please ask the Lord to grow the seeds that have been planted, as I believe that it’s the first time each has heard the wonderful message of reconciliation with God through Christ!

I am also very encouraged by the comments I’m receiving from the conference attendees about their respect, appreciation, and excitement for the entire ministry team of The Cross Current! The Lord has given us a huge vision to equip His Church in Canada to engage our culture, and the task can seem incredibly overwhelming – well, that is until we take our eyes off of our own shortcomings and lift our eyes to Creator of heaven and earth who has called us to such a task as this at such a time as this…for His glory and in His Name!

I also received a very encouraging and timely phone call from TCC Rep Jeff Mardling this afternoon. Jeff very thoughtfully contacted me to let me know that I was missed on the streets of our hometown today…but all went well without me, anyway! PRAISE GOD! It’s so mind-blowing to realize that He is the one building His Church and He’s using TCC to play some small part in His own Church-building process…WITH OR WITHOUT ME!!!

I thank God for each one of you and look forward to great days advancing His Kingdom in Canada together!

For His Glory,

Cory

HELPFUL HINTS – Love Endures (Part 4)

Welcome to your audio for making the most of our fourth and final episode of the TCC Radio series, Love Endures. This week I want to share our script writers’ “prayer closet prep work” for this episode…

God demonstrated his love in the completion of the Gospel, but He also shows His love to everyday people by sending other everyday people to them with the precious word of His testimony. God does not send perfect people to intimidate others. He sends people who are just as much in need of His grace as the very people they are sent to! It is God’s love that motivates us to go and this love should make people envious.

The greatest pain of all that we can experience in this lifetime is when we realize the reality that the God of love, He Who actually is love, is unreachable and there is nothing we can do to be in relationship with Him. That pain is accompanied by the paralyzing fear that since we can’t get to God, we will have to endure the greatest pain of all eternity in hell separated from the source of all that’s good – God Himself. It is this moment that we share with people we love, in love, so they will call on the Lord our God and be saved – as He has promised to do for anyone who calls on Him.

Church, I have to tell you that this week’s script is so rich and rooted in the truth of Scripture that we would suggest you just go for gusto and invite people to tune in to hear about the greatest pain and the greatest good surrounding God’s love.

TCC Radio broadcasts this Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on The Stream TV out of Orangeville. It also podcasts on www.tccradio.com.

Oh, and one more reminder! Please remember to send us your Gospel glory stories and personal adventures in everyday evangelism to: radio@thecrosscurrent.com.

We give God thanks for you and pray that His strength will be perfect in your weakness this week!

HELPFUL HINTS – Love Endures (Part 3)

Happy belated Valentine’s Day! This is Cory and here are your audio for making the most of Part 3 of our new series of TCC Radio called “Love Endures”.

This week we’re broadcasting and podcasting a fascinating conversation that TCC Rep Jeff enjoyed with a girl named Jaylene, who professes faith in Jesus Christ.

Not only does Jaylene offer some great answers and insights into her understanding of love, but the conversation gets really interesting when Jeff asks her several tough questions that we train all of our Reps to ask when we encounter another Christ-follower on the streets:

>”If I wasn’t a believer in Jesus Christ and had just 3 minutes to live…what would you say to me?”

>”Do you talk about sin with the people you share Christ with? If so, how?”

>”What about repentance? Is that important to mention when sharing the Gospel?”

How would Jaylene answer? How would you answer those questions yourself? Well, that’s why this will be a great episode to invite other believers to check out! But because the Word of God is so powerful and God Himself is patient not wanting anyone to perish, we also invite you to invite your prayer list to tune in again this week too! And here’s how you might do that this week…

Simply tell them that you are affiliated with a wild reality radio (and soon to be TV) broadcast that invites average, everyday people to take part in a spiritual speakers’ corner-type conversation. They also talk about hot topics in the culture and also ask the big question of life: where will you spend eternity?

From there you can ask them to tune in to a special show talking about love this Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on www.thestreamTV.com out of Orangeville and it also podcasts on tccradio.com.

Please also send us your Gospel glory stories and personal adventures in everyday evangelism to radio@thecrosscurrent.com and – with your consent – we’d love to publish them on our blog at www.thecrosscurrent.com/blog!

We again thank God for you and pray that He gives you His strength and wisdom to be His witness this week!

Easter Comes Early to TCC!

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

I thank God for this conversation he allowed me to have with Phil about the reality of Christ’s resurrection and His matchless message of Good News!

Please take the time to watch this video footage (below) and pray for the Lord to open Phil’s eyes to the truth of Eternal Life.

For His Glory,

Cory

PS: Please note the irony that the words on Phil’s sweater bring to our discussion about Easter!:)

HELPFUL HINTS – Love Endures (Part 2)

Hi again! This is Cory and here are your audio for making the most of Part 2 of our new series of TCC Radio called “Love Endures”.

Off the top – make sure to check out last week’s message here to get your hands on the interview questions we used on the streets to break the ice, build relationship, and share the Gospel throughout the production of this series.

OK, let’s talk about how you can invite your family and friends to tune in to hear this week’s adventure in everyday evangelism from the streets with TCC Radio…

This week yours truly talks with Darren – an intellectual spiritualist who claims that there are many ways to God and a “better place”. Now, Darren was so gracious to openly and honestly share his thoughts and beliefs with me and, believe me, we covered a lot of ground throughout our half-hour conversation! From God’s love…to God’s holiness…to God’s law…to God’s grace…to C.S. Lewis…and everything in between!

Inviting your prayer list to tune in this week has never been easier! Simply say something like this to them: “Hey, have I ever told you about this wild reality radio program – and soon to be television program – that I am affiliated with that invites average, everyday people to take part in a spiritual speakers corner-type conversation? They also talk about hot topics in the culture and also the BIG question of life: where will you spend eternity? Do you ever think about that sort of stuff?”

From there you can tell them that you respect their viewpoint and would really appreciate if they would tune in to the show this week so you can talk about it afterwards! Make sure to let them know that it broadcasts every Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on www.thestreamTV.com out of Orangeville and it also podcasts on tccradio.com.

Please also send us your Gospel glory stories and personal adventures in everyday evangelism to radio@thecrosscurrent.com! You never know, we may even publish them on our blog – with your consent, of course!

We thank God for you and pray that He gives you His strength and wisdom to be His witness in your own personal mission field again this week!

Helpful Hints – February 1st to 7th

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

“All you need is love, love, love is all you need.” So John Lennon says, but is that really true? Well, what better time to find out than during the month of love – February? And that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

Hi, this is Cory and here are your audio for making the most of Part 1 of our new series of TCC Radio called “Love Endures”.

The Bible says that “God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” and that He “shows us love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Clearly God so loved us and shows His love, yet He is also holy, righteous, and just. How does that all work?

Well, in effort to intentionally invite your loved ones to listen to the show this week so you can talk about it with them afterwards, feel free to invite them to invite them to participate in a short “spiritual survey” for a reality radio show that you are affiliated with! Here are the inquisitive ice-breakers we used on the streets that we trust will be as effective for you as they were for us:

1. How would you define love? In your opinion, what makes a person “lovable”?

2. I’m sure you love someone, don’t you? In your thinking, what exactly makes you love that person?

3. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s something really big that you would do for that person with no questions asked?

4. Would you consider yourself “lovable”? Why or why not?

5. A recent magazine add cited the Taj Mahal in India as the “ultimate symbol of love”. What do you think the ultimate symbol of love is?

From there you can either share with them why the Cross is the ultimate symbol of love or simply invite them to tune in to TCC Radio with you – broadcasted this Friday at 7pm on Grace 105.9 FM in London and on www.thestreamtv.com in Orangeville and also podcasted on www.tccradio.com.

Again, we sincerely invite you to send us your Gospel glory stories to radio@thecrosscurrent.com. You never know, we may even publish them here on our blog – with your consent, of course!

We thank God for you always in our prayers and let’s pray for His grace, favour, and truth to rest on our collective labour for Him again this week!
